When Jane from Irvine, California, approached us at Bath Planet by AC&R, her bathroom had seen better days. Her outdated tub took up more space than necessary, making her bathroom feel cramped and uninviting. She dreamed of something more spacious, functional, and—let’s be honest—a whole lot easier to clean. After all, she was done with bending over to scrub the tub or deal with slippery surfaces. Enter: the walk-in shower transformation!
Jane’s journey started with a vision for a safe, accessible, and elegant bathroom upgrade. She wanted a walk-in shower that offered both comfort and style, and it had to blend seamlessly into her space without creating a drastic change that felt out of place. With these goals in mind, she reached out to Bath Planet by AC&R, and together, we began plotting out her new shower oasis.
The Design Process
One of the first things we discussed was the look and feel she wanted. Jane envisioned clean, light-colored tiles to keep her bathroom feeling airy, with subtle detailing to add a touch of sophistication. We suggested marble-look tiles in soft beige with a hint of gloss for a timeless appearance. She loved the idea! To add some extra flair, we opted for a darker crown molding at the top—a touch that would make the shower look a little more “Jane” and a little less “builder-grade.”
Next came the layout and functionality. Jane wanted to avoid clutter, so we included a recessed shelf to keep her shampoo and soaps organized, keeping everything within easy reach but tucked away to maintain that clean look. We also installed a foldable bench seat—a game-changer for someone who loves to relax in the shower after a long day (while still having the option to fold it up when she needs the extra room). And, of course, a handheld showerhead was added for flexibility, making it easier for Jane to rinse, relax, or even give her pup a quick bath without the usual hassle.
Installation Day
When installation day arrived, Jane was a bundle of nerves and excitement. She had seen horror stories of remodels gone wrong, but we reassured her that our team had the process down to a science. Thanks to our efficient installation method, we were able to transform her old tub space into the walk-in shower of her dreams with minimal disruption to her daily life.
The installation took just a couple of days, and we made sure to keep Jane updated at every stage. After all, the last thing she needed was to walk in and see a half-finished project (or to wonder where all her hot water went!). By the end of the project, Jane could hardly believe the transformation from tub to chic walk-in shower was complete.
The Big Reveal
When Jane saw the finished product, she was thrilled. Her new walk-in shower was spacious, modern, and so much easier to step into. No more high walls to trip over or cramped spaces to maneuver! The foldable seat was perfect for those “spa day” moments, and the marble-look tiles created an ambiance of understated elegance that fit her style perfectly.
Today, Jane enjoys her daily showers with a newfound sense of ease and luxury. She’s told us she’s actually looking forward to her bathroom routine now—something she never thought possible. And whenever she has friends over, she always gets the same reaction: “You have to tell me who did your bathroom!”
